Overview

City of London Toastmasters Club hosts engaging and structured in-person meetings held in the evening every 1st, 3rd and 5th (if there is one) Tuesday of the month in the St Botolph’s Church on Aldgate High Street, each centered around a unique theme. The meeting format is designed to foster a supportive environment for developing public speaking and leadership skills.

Meeting Structure

The meetings are typically divided into two main segments:

  1. First Half: Prepared Speeches and Guest Introductions

    • This segment kicks off with prepared speeches from club members. Each speaker presents a well-rehearsed speech, usually aligned with Toastmasters' educational pathways. This segment allows members to showcase their preparation and delivery skills. Then we have the introduction of guests,

  2. Second Half: Evaluations and Table Topics

    • The latter part of the meeting features constructive feedback on earlier speeches from evaluators, followed by Table Topics, where participants are invited to speak spontaneously on various prompts. This fun and dynamic activity encourages quick thinking and impromptu speaking skills, making it a highlight for many attendees.

Flexibility and Variation

To keep the meetings fresh and engaging, the order of events may be reversed or adjusted occasionally. This flexibility not only enhances the experience but also allows members to adapt to different speaking and leadership challenges, ensuring continuous growth and learning.
